how you live a day, is how you live your life

i was recently reflecting how everyday is a “day on” your life, you don’t get “days off”. each day is full of our circumstances paired with the choices we’ve made along the way. i read recently in the book Anam Cara by John Donahue that in Ireland the day is sacred because it’s all you have. that resonated deeply for me. a day is something i can handle. a day is enough time to wrap myself around. a day is a microcosm of the whole. how you live today, is how you live your whole life. coming into alignment with a day seems to me one of the most worthwhile of activities, because it’s not what you do, per se, it’s how you be.

once the self is known, the day becomes an endless gift.

i am starting to understand why i love a good “change of time reality” theme. I’m thinking the movie Groundhogs Day, the tv series Russian Doll, and that one with Andy Samberg, Palm Springs.

A day is a day is a day. It’s the same and it’s different. An opportunity just the same.
