the hand of change

I used to be overwhelmed by change. Life seemed easier to me when everything stayed familiar. Though as time went on, it seemed that change was going to happen whether I wanted it to or not. And soon I realized that when I engaged change, got curious with change, it showed me that change was constantly poking at me for attention. Change wanted to take my hand and collaborate with this generously bestowed upon me heart-mind, soul, and body.

Learning to take the hand of the creature I hid myself from for years was its own set of intimidating, yet change was patient and showed me that it didn't matter what I did in a day, it only mattered how I was being. The way I was in a day encompassed the entirety of what change needed from me in our collaborations.

In Anam Cara; Book of Celtic Wisdom by John Donahue, he writes, "The Celts never entered the day with a repetitious deadening perspective, they took each day as a new beginning... Possibility and change become growth within the shape of time that we call a day. Days are where we live. This rhythm shapes our lives. Your life takes the form of each new day that is given to you."

All I have is today, so how will I be today? How I live my days becomes the sum of my parts at the end of this journey.
